Team Shanghai Yonda BWT’s Dylan Pereira continued his remarkable form by securing victory in both races during a dramatic weekend for Porsche Carrera Cup Asia at Bangsaen Street Circuit, marking the first event of the newly formed Street Cup.

Pereira wrapped up pole position for Saturday’s opener, after electrical issues limited his running in Friday’s Free Practice. With strong winds and rain in the air, the championship leader got a brilliant launch off the line, as Rodrigo Dias Almeida (Team Jebsen) and Dylan Yip (Phantom Global Racing) went wheel-to-wheel behind the Luxembourger on the opening tour.

Pereira managed the gap at the front in extremely challenging conditions and as the rain began to fall, secured a seventh successive win when the Red Flag came out four laps from the end due to a heavy downpour. Almeida took second earning his first podium since Shanghai, while Yip added to his two third place finishes in Sepang with another trophy.

Bao Jinlong (BWT Phantom Global Racing) earned Pro-Am victory and finished seventh overall after late drama saw the Chinese racer initially drop down the order after missing his braking. However, due to counting back a lap after the Red Flag, he would be classified first in class, with TORO Racing’s Eric Zang coming second and Francis Tjia (OpenRoad Racing) rounding out the top three.

Yuan Chuang (Phantom Global Racing) denied hometown hero Munkong Sathienthirakul (EBM) Am-class pole position, but the Thai driver would fight back in the opening stages of the race, making his way into the lead on the second lap. He maintained his advantage until Chuang found a way back past just moments before the Red Flag came out, but due to the countback rule, he was classified behind Sathienthirakul, with TRIPLE ACE RACING’s Henry Kwong in third.

In the Masters category, Christian Chia (OpenRoad Racing) took the win after enjoying a closely fought battle with John Shen (Modena Motorsports), who finished less than a second behind, as Adrian D’Silva (EBM) bounced back from his DNS in the Sepang finale with a podium.

Sunday’s event began in dramatic fashion as Yip and Almeida would make contact on the Formation Lap causing a delayed start due to barrier repairs, with neither driver being able to start the race.

When the session got underway, Pereira streaked away in dominant fashion setting countless fastest laps as he wrapped up his eighth consecutive victory in the championship. Behind him, Brock Gilchrist (Porsche Team New Zealand) made a daring overtake on TORO Racing’s Enzo Trulli, bravely passing the young Italian as the two drivers crossed the line in those positions.

In Pro-Am, Bao clinched the win as he once again fought with the Pro drivers and secured fifth overall as he edges closer to a sixth category title. Li Chao (Team Betterlife) improved on his fourth-place finish in Race 1 to come second, with Zang having to settle for third.

Chuang and Sathienthirakul reignited their battle from Round 8 as the hometown hero went into the lead on the opening tour, but the pair were closely matched throughout the event, finishing in the same order as Saturday’s event, with Henry Kwong joining them on the podium again.

The Masters class saw late drama as D’Silva and Chia battled for the win in the closing stages, which looked to be going the way of D’Silva. However, he would make contact with the barrier during the last lap to lose out to Chia, who now takes the championship lead in class. Shen and Jacky Wu (Porsche Own Retail 69 Team) rounded out the podium places after D’Silva limped over the line to finish the event.

The Street Cup will return for the season finale at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, with the Pro-Am, Am and Masters category winners receiving a behind the scenes VIP experience at the 2026 Bathurst 12 Hour.

Immediately after this weekend’s action, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Talent Pool Presented by Michelin members head to Phuket for three days of training to prepare the drivers for the remaining challenges of the 2025 season. The championship is back racing on 22-24 August making its debut at Mandalika where we’ll see the conclusion of the Endurance Cup.

Dylan Pereira, Team Shanghai Yonda BWT: “I’m delighted to deliver another strong weekend, especially at such a challenging circuit like Bangsaen. We had our issues throughout the event, missing track time due to technical problems, but the team did an amazing job throughout! Saturday was very tricky as being the leader you’re the first one approaching these new wet conditions, so I had to take controlled risks. I think I learnt a lot from last year and we showed incredible pace to further extend our lead in the championship.”

Bao Jinlong, BWT Phantom Global Racing: “This track is always difficult so with the rain added in during Saturday’s event this made it even harder. The conditions changed all the time across the three days, but we always performed well no matter what. I’m happy to take the Pro-Am victories and to also be fighting with the Pro drivers, finishing in the top five during Race 2. This was my aim coming into the event and I’m happy to achieve it.”

Munkong Sathienthirakul, EBM: “This has been a special weekend for me in front of my home fans who created such an unbelievable atmosphere. The support has been incredible so to then win both Am-class races was amazing! I enjoyed some great battles with Chunag, and it was tricky in the changing conditions. It’s great to see Porsche Carrera Cup Asia continuing to support motorsport in Thailand, being part of such massive events like the Bangsaen Grand Prix.”

Christian Chia, OpenRoad Racing: “It was a fantastic weekend of racing, and I’m delighted to follow up my first Masters win in Sepang with a further two here! Bangsaen is a track you need to qualifying well on and then once you get into the race, you must ensure you finish it! It’s so demanding which makes it even more satisfying to achieve these victories and to move into the lead of the Masters championship.”

Alexandre Imperatori, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Manager: “It was another excellent weekend of racing on the coastal circuit of Bangsaen! The changeable conditions throughout the event tested the drivers and we saw lots of action unfold due to this. Congratulations to Dylan as he fought through electrical issues on Friday and missed lots of running, so to deliver such a high level of performance is impressive. There was excellent racing throughout and drivers from different categories battling for positions across the two races. The conditions during Race 1 were extremely challenging with the seaside part of the track being wet and other parts completely dry until the end, so they did a great job to manage this on slick tyres at an already difficult circuit! To compete in front of such a large and passionate crowd is very special for the championship and to be supporting such a huge event for Thailand motorsport. We hope that Porsche Thailand enjoyed their track experience and thank them for their support. We’re now looking forward to heading to Phuket with the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Talent Pool Presented by Michelin members for training before our next round at Mandalika.”
