Porsche will return to GT World Challenge Asia in 2026 with a strong eight-car presence, as the marque looks to defend its titles with the introduction of the updated 911 GT3 R (992).
The latest evolution of the car, which was first revealed in 2025, features refinements to aerodynamics and suspension aimed at improving overall balance and drivability. The changes are expected to be particularly beneficial in the Pro-Am-focused environment of GT World Challenge Asia, where consistency and usability are critical.
Origine Motorsport leads the Porsche effort once again, entering two cars as it targets a fourth consecutive teams’ title. Pro-Am champion Lu Wei returns alongside Laurin Heinrich in one entry, while the team also fields an Am-class car for Liu Hangcheng and Wang Zhongwei.
Absolute Racing continues as a key Porsche customer squad with two Pro-Am entries. Alessandro Ghiretti steps up to the series alongside Hang Ruohan, while Bastian Buus partners Thailand Super Series champion Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak in the second car.
Phantom Global Racing retains its established pairing of Anthony Liu and Dorian Boccolacci, having shown consistent front-running pace last season, while Porsche Center Okazaki returns with two entries across Pro-Am and Silver-Am categories.
AMAC Motorsport completes the line-up, with Andrew Macpherson and Ben Porter moving to the latest-spec car as they target another Am-class title.
The 2026 season opens at Sepang International Circuit before visiting Mandalika, Shanghai, Fuji, and Okayama, with the championship once again concluding on the Beijing Street Circuit.
With the new-generation 911 GT3 R now fully rolled out across its customer teams, Porsche enters the season as one of the benchmark manufacturers in the field, although increased competition and evolving regulations are expected to make title defence far from straightforward.
