With several teams already confirming programmes for 2026, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia grid is beginning to form, and the Pro class in particular is shaping into a three-way heavyweight contest even before testing begins.

Absolute Racing’s return is one of the headline developments. The team will field two cars, led by Marvin Klein, whose résumé includes back-to-back titles in Porsche Carrera Cup France and front-running performances in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. His experience in identical 911 Cup machinery immediately positions him as a reference driver for the field. Absolute’s second driver has already been finalised, with an official announcement still to come.

While Absolute brings European pedigree, the regional contingent is equally strong.

Chinese squad 610 Racing has committed to a four-car effort spanning multiple classes. Luo Kailuo is confirmed in Pro, Roy Tien Foo Tang in Pro Am, Liu Chao in Am and Cao Qikuan in Masters.

Elsewhere on the Pro grid, Bergwerk Motorsport confirms Hoàng Đạt Sawer, Porsche Center Adelaide enters Seth Gilmore, and EBM locks in Joshua Berry. Sime Motors Racing will field Naquib Azlan, while Team Porsche New Zealand brings Marco Giltrap into the championship.

Team Jebsen names Amna Al Qubaisi, Phantom Global Racing confirms Liu Ruiqi, and Team Wetrade x PGR signs Rodrigo Dias Almeida, rounding out an increasingly international field.

From a title perspective, three drivers stand out as early favourites.

Klein’s Porsche specific experience gives him an immediate advantage in understanding tyre behaviour, race management and the nuances of rear engined Cup cars.

Southeast Asian Formula 4 champion Alex Sawer enters with significant regional momentum and proven qualifying speed. His transition from single seaters to GT machinery will be closely watched.

Gilmore, runner up in Southeast Asian F4, also arrives in strong form. He ended his 2025 Malaysia Toyota 86 campaign with back to back wins in the final two events of the season, underlining both his adaptability across platforms and his ability to close out a campaign with momentum. That late season form, combined with his consistency in F4, makes him a genuine title threat heading into his first full Carrera Cup Asia season.

With established Porsche teams, confirmed multi car entries and a clear group of front running contenders already identified, the competitive framework for 2026 is largely in place. The key question now is whether experience in Porsche machinery or recent momentum from single seaters and production based racing will prove decisive over the course of the championship.
